PP FDY Yarn: Production Process and Structural Features

1. What is Polypropylene FDY Interlaced Yarn?
Polypropylene FDY interlaced yarn is a type of functional yarn made from polypropylene (PP) raw material, processed into a fully drawn filament with a stable interlocking structure through an interlacing technique.
Here, FDY (Fully Drawn Yarn) refers to a fully oriented yarn where the fibers have undergone complete molecular orientation and crystallization during the spinning process, resulting in high strength and good dimensional stability.
On this basis, the FDY filament is subjected to an interlacing treatment, creating regular entanglement points between individual filaments, thereby yielding an interlaced yarn product with excellent cohesion and unwinding performance.

2. Production Process of Polypropylene FDY Interlaced Yarn
The production of polypropylene FDY interlaced yarn mainly involves the following steps:
First, polypropylene chips are melted and extruded through a screw extruder;
Next, the melt is formed into continuous filaments through a spinneret and undergoes molecular orientation and setting during high-speed drawing to produce polypropylene FDY yarn;
Finally, the FDY yarn enters a specialized interlacing nozzle, where it is acted upon by a vortex flow generated by compressed air, forming stable interlocking points between multiple filaments and thus obtaining polypropylene FDY interlaced yarn.
This process eliminates the need for additional twisting or sizing, meeting the requirements for subsequent weaving or knitting processes.

3. Advantages Brought by the Interlaced Structure
The interlaced structure is a key feature that distinguishes polypropylene FDY interlaced yarn from ordinary FDY yarn.
This structure significantly enhances the yarn's cohesion and running stability. During high-speed weaving, it is less prone to filament separation or breakage, exhibits good unwinding performance, effectively improves production efficiency, and reduces processing costs.
